D-A’s Office: Dartmouth Police-Involved Shooting Was Lawful
The Bristol County District Attorney's office has found that the police-involved shooting last October of 25 year old Luis Roman of New Bedford was lawful.
Roman was shot by police outside 3 Ledgewood Boulevard in Dartmouth after Police said he threatened residents there, left the scene, and then returned with a gun.
The D-A's office says Roman was seated in his car and fired twice at a police officer who was standing outside. He was shot by a second officer stationed at the rear passenger side of the vehicle. He died later at St. Lukes Hospital.
The 22 page report concludes that Roman presented a clear, present and imminent danger to police on the scene, and the officer who fired was justified in using deadly force.
