A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Cape Ann, off our MA coast, in 1755. Not even the 5.8 quake that struck Virginia in 2011 surpassed it.

With the ancient Ramapo Fault running near New York City, the Northeast still faces a high risk of an earthquake damaging our homes! Is buying earthquake hazard insurance something you'd consider, or at least look into? Let's not forget about the quake that occurred in Maine on October of 2012 that was felt all over New England.
