Chamber Honors Local Businesses During 127th Annual Meeting
The New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce honors local businesses which have gone above and beyond to invest in the community. The presentations were made Thursday during the Chamber’s 127th Annual Meeting at the Century House.
Southern Mass. Credit Union earned the Chambers Education award for establishing a credit union branch at Fairahven High School, where students are taught budget management and finances.

Ferreira says a program to help students understand finances is also in place at a couple of New Bedford schools, and she’s hoping the program will expand even further.
The Chamber also honored three other businesses that spent significant money in rehabbing buildings in Greater New Bedford.
The owners of Fairhaven’s Hampton Inn recently completed major renovations, Winn Development of Boston created senior housing in the former Cliftex Mill, and Child and Family Services converted a former North End billiards parlor into a new headquarters building.
