A gathering of state and local elected officials and business leaders at UMass Dartmouth on Friday, reviewing prospects for economic development.  Among the speakers was Jim Gordon, President of Cape Wind.  Gordon hopes to be the first occupant of the proposed Maritime Commerce Terminal in New Bedford's South End.  He wants to put more than 100 wind turbines in Nantucket Sound, and he describes the region as the "Saudi Arabia" of wind.  While the project is fully permitted, Gordon says there are still two lawsuits standing in the way....

Gordon is confident Cape Wind will be victorious in the courts.  He hopes to get started on the project this year.   State and local officials also touted the accomplishments of the Southcoast Development Partnership.  Its a group of business leaders  that works thru the University to promote the region.
