Boxer Who Fought Racial Injustice Dead at 76
Former professional boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter is dead at the age of 76. Carter spent nearly two decades in prison for murder, but was then released when it was determined that he didn’t get a fair trial. Carter was made famous by the 1975 Bob Dylan song “Hurricane” and the 1999 movie of the same name that starred Denzel Washington. Canadian media reports Carter died in Toronto following a battle with prostate cancer.
