New Bedford Police Detectives are investigating a body found Sunday afternoon in the woods off Phillips Road in the North End. According to the published reports,  police responded to the scene  around 3:15 p.m. to a report of a body being found. After a preliminary investigation, police indicated that the body did not appear to be a homicide victim. There was no word if it was a male or female.

New Bedford Police detectives say the male body they found in the north end in the woods off Phillips Road Sunday afternoon has been classified as an unattended death. The person is described as being in his mid 40's was not a victim of a homicide.

Update: 1:50pm

The Bristol County district attorney has now ruled that the body found was in fact due to a suicide. More on this story as it develops.
