Its a pirate invasion this weekend in New Bedford's South End.  The event runs through Sunday at the Fort Rodman - Fort Tabor complex.  Organizers say its similar to a renaissance fair featuring pirate encampments, displays, and activities for children.

Organizer Jodi Ventura tells WBSM News, there's also battle re-enactments both Saturday and Sunday at 1pm.  "We will have a full-scale land-sea battle with two ships, one from Maine and another from North Carolina," said Ventura, "engaged in battle with folks on land with artillery; we're going to make a big noise in this city!"

Admission to the fort is free all weekend, but organizers are encouraging donations of $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12 with all proceeds going to the Fort Rodman-Fort Tabor Historical Assocaition and Military Museum.
