Freetown native Mikayla Nogueira is a social media influencer who grew up around makeup. Her father was deeply involved in the Lakeville Haunted House, and it was there as regular civilians became ghouls and goblins that she discovered her love of makeup.

For those who might not know, she has steadily caught fire on TikTok since the pandemic, regularly attracting millions of viewers to her makeup-themed videos.

She also used to be an intern here at Fun 107 and WBSM.

To put it plainly, Mikayla Nogueira has a larger audience than Fun 107 (and, for that matter, nearly every other radio station across America) could ever dream of.  It's not even close.

That's why I was kind of excited when I heard that she decided to make a TikTok and rank all of the jobs she had before her time as a content creator. I wondered if she would include her time in radio in her walk down memory lane.

Mikayla raved about her time at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, calling it a 10 out of 10 experience.  "I loved it," she said.  "It made me realize that I enjoyed working in fast food."

She didn't share the same enthusiasm, however, for her job at Target.  She said she hated it and didn't make it out of Target training.  On top of that, someone hit her car on the first day. So, 1 out of 10.

At the end of the video, Mikayla addresses her internship here at Fun 107 and WBSM.  It pains me to report that even though she went to school for broadcasting, she only ranked the experience a 4 out of 10.  It's a tough pill to swallow for a guy who loves radio the way that I do.

However, I have to admit that internships are just as much about finding out that you don't like doing something as much as confirming that you do like it.  Finding out that you're barely lukewarm on radio is a lesson much better learned while you are wrapping up college than when you are five years deep into your career and feeling trapped.

It's much better to be honest with yourself than to work a lifetime in a career that doesn't bring you passion.

Mikayla seems to have found hers.
