Baker Not Told About Deval Patrick Being Named Consultant For Olympics

Republican Gov. Charlie Baker says when it comes to Boston's bid for the 2024 Olympics, he's more concerned about the product than the people.

Baker was asked Monday about the decision by Boston 2024, the nonprofit organization leading the effort to bring the games to Massachusetts, to tap his Democratic predecessor, ex-Gov. Deval Patrick, as a paid consultant.

Several of Patrick's former top aides are also playing key roles with the Olympic group.

Baker, who was not told in advance of Patrick's role, said he was more concerned about the many ``unanswered questions'' surrounding the Olympic bid, adding that time was wasting.

The former governor's role is expected to involve promoting Boston to the International Olympic Committee, which will choose a host city for the games in 2017.
