DARTMOUTH — Authorities are looking for the public’s help after a male was found dead on the side of the road early this morning and appears to be the victim of a homicide.

Dartmouth Police, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating an apparent homicide that occurred in Dartmouth sometime late last night or early this morning.​

At 5:10 a.m. today, Dartmouth Police received a 911 call from a motorist, who reported seeing a male collapsed on the side of the road in the area of 180 Horseneck Road. When police and paramedics arrived on scene, they located the male and determined him to be deceased.

The D.A.’s Office says the victim is an unidentified male and that based on evidence gathered during the preliminary investigation, it is believed he is the victim of a homicide.

The state Medical Examiner's Office will take custody of the body to perform an autopsy in the coming days.

The D.A.’s Office says the investigation remains active and ongoing, and that no further information can be disseminated at this time. The victim’s identity will be released following notification of next of kin.

Authorities ask that if anyone has any information regarding this case or may have been in the area of 180 Horseneck Road between 11 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday, they are urged to contact Dartmouth Police or take advantage of the district attorney's anonymous text-a-tip program.
