Another Casino Group Emerges In New Bedford

A former New Bedford City Councilor and member of the Governor's Council is stepping into the public spotlight again. 

Attorney Paul Hamel is joining with five property owners in the Hicks-Logan Street area to bring a resort casino to that part of New Bedford. 

Hamel tells WBSM News, he's excited about the prospects.....

Hamel says the first job of the "South Coast Casino Corp." is to find a major financial backer or national gaming company to support the project. 

Hamel says the group intends to develop the 32-acre site in a way to complement the emerging arts and cultural center in New Bedford
