It's been years since Amy Adams signed on to play Janis Joplin in a film about the legendary singer, but there are new signs of life for the project.

Deadline.com has reported that director Jean-Marc Vallée is in negotiations to helm the film and is reportedly in talks to re-team with his writers from the Dallas Buyers Club for this latest project.

Adams must be very excited. She has been very vocal about her desire to play Joplin, who died at the age of 27 in 1970.

In fact Amy once told Vogue magazine that if she was given the opportunity to have coffee with anyone from the past it would be Joplin. But she added  "it probably wouldn't be coffee."
