There's some positive economic development news coming out of Fall River .

The Herald News says the global company Amazon has sent a letter of intent to Mayor Will Flanagan, announcing its desire to build a one-million square foot distribution center at the Life Science and Technology Park at the Fall River-Freetown line.

Amazon plans to create 1,000 permanent jobs, with a starting salary of $35,000 or more plus benefits.  In addition, Amazon would employ hundreds of part time and temporary workers.

Officials say part of the facility will also be located in Freetown, and officials there have also received a letter of intent.  If final agreements are reached, Amazon hopes to begin construction in the first quarter of 2015.
