Yarmouth’s Sand Sculpture Trail Features All Of Your Summer Favorites

Throughout Yarmouth you’ll find 32 unique sand sculptures that are placed anywhere but the beach. Thanks to the literal tons of sand and the artists at Fitzy Snowman Studios, Yarmouth is officially celebrating its 10th Annual Yarmouth Sand Sculpture Trail.

Massachusetts-based Fitzy Snowman Studios is nationally renowned for its live performances, 3-D chalk-art, snow and ice sculptures, pumpkin carving, and lastly, sand sculpting. Locally, it is best known for the sand sculptures that are part of the Revere Beach Sand Sculpting Festival each year.

This year, thanks to funds from the Town of Yarmouth and community businesses, Fitzy Snowman Studios was again able to turn Yarmouth into a treasure hunt of sorts with 32 sand sculptures planted throughout the town. It’s essentially a family-fun scavenger hunt for residents and visitors alike. Best of all, you can do it by car; no walking in the heat or pushing strollers necessary.

If you’re wondering if there’s a Dunkin’ sand sculpture in there somewhere, you bet there is. It features a hot cup, though, not an iced coffee cup, which seems a bit off-brand for New Englanders.

The sculptures encompass most of what we all love about summer in Massachusetts like surfing, seafood, sharks, ice cream, boats, and actual sandcastles. But a lot of the sculptures also pay homage to the businesses that commissioned them. There’s an old tree outside of a landscaping business, a sand donkey near the farm, a treasure chest outside of the bank, and rum barrels outside of the Ocean Club.

If you need a mid-week day trip, consider taking the drive over to Yarmouth and going on the Sand Sculpture Trail driving tour. It’s a fun way to see the town and will surely get your kids inspired for their next beach trip.
