The New York Yankees won't have pitcher CC Sabathia at their disposal this postseason.  The 35-year-old left-hander has checked himself into an alcohol rehab facility and will not pitch this postseason.

Sabathia issued a statement saying he has entered rehab to seek the professional care he needs to treat his disease.  He added that he's looking forward to being on the field with his team next season to continue playing the game he loves.

Sabathia is just 6-and-10 with a 4.73 ERA this season, but had pitched better down the stretch and was expected to be a part of the Yankees' playoff rotation.

The Yankees host the Houston Astros in the American League Wild Card Game on Tuesday.  The winner advances to play the Kansas City Royals in the AL Division Series.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
