New Bedford's Working Waterfront Festival is getting a financial shot in the arm.

The National Endowment for the Arts has designated $45, 000 dollars to produce the 2014 version of the festival.

The free event, held each September on New Bedford's working waterfront, gives the public a rare look into comemrcial fishing.  This year's event is scheduled for September 27th and 28th, and will focus on fishing families.

Festival Director Laura Orleans works through the Community Development Center of Southeastern Ma. to produce the festival.  Orleans says the grant will enable the festival to continue providng a forum for the commercial fishing community to tell their story.
