South Coast groups advocating for organized labor and the working class plan a pop-up drive-in rally for a "just economic recovery" to mark Labor Day in New Bedford.

The Greater Southeastern Massachusetts Labor Council and other groups plan the 'Working Class Power Rising Rally and Pop-Up Drive-In" in the parking lot of New Bedford High School on Sept. 7. Gates open at 10 a.m., and the program starts promptly at 10:30 a.m.

"We will rally together, safely from our cars, enjoy a program featuring the premiere of a short Massachusetts labor film, music, action and more," the event announcement reads. The event will end with the screening of a family-friendly animated film. "Chicken Run" is about a group of chickens who organize to vanquish an evil farm owner who is intent upon using automation to turn them into meat pies.

Registraton is required to reserve a spot, because space is limited. Goody bags will be provided. Portable bathroom facilities will be available on site. Feel free to bring your own snacks but be prepared to take your own trash home, organizers say. New Bedford High School is located at 230 Hathaway Blvd.
