A former New Bedford woman who police allege made several bomb threats recently was arrested Thursday night in Dorchester.

Massachusetts State Police say 37-year-old Heather Perkins was located on Talbot Avenue in Dorchester around 9:15 p.m. and arrested without incident. She was arrested by the Mass State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, working with the Boston Police Fugitive Unit and other law enforcement partners.

Perkins is accused of making five threats of violence in the past week, and wanted on eight bomb threat warrants overall.

Police suspect her in threats made against the Dartmouth Police, UMass Dartmouth and numerous other communities and universities. The most recent threat was made early Thursday morning in New Bedford.

New Bedford Police spokesman Lt. Amos says all threats made in the New Bedford area were made with Perkins pretending to be a former boyfriend. He says the boyfriend is not considered connected to the threats at this point.

Melo says the total number of charges against Perkins is unknown at this time. He says detectives are still following up and will likely conduct a forensic search of her cell phone to determine the total.

Perkins is believed to be behind the bomb threat that evacuated New Bedford City Hall briefly last Friday morning, as well as behind recent threats of murder toward WBSM employees.

Gregg Miliote, spokesman for the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, says Perkins was arraigned this morning and held without bail. She is due back in court for further bail arguments on August 1.
