A woman who crashed her car early Sunday morning on Sandwich Road in Bourne was rescued from the burning vehicle by two passing bystanders.

The unnamed woman had collided into a utility pole near the entrance to the Upper Cape Cod Technical School around 5 a.m. on Sunday.

The car had snapped the pole and caught on fire and the driver was struggling to get free of the car before police arrived on the scene.

Luckily two passersby saw the accident and stopped to see if everyone was okay.

They helped the woman out of her Subaru hatchback and got her a safe distance from the crash site.

The road was shut down by police as Eversource and the Bourne Fire Department addressed the fire and broken utility pole.

The driver was taken to Falmouth hospital to be treated for her injuries. Police are investigating, but do not believe speed or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

No word on the names of the good Samaritans who helped rescue the trapped driver.
