Woke School Board Pushes Too Far [OPINION]
I think it's safe to say that many of us have just about reached our limit with the woke folk and are ready to begin pushing back. Our tolerance for some of this idiocy has maxed out. What once was mildly amusing is now a bore, and it's time to knock it off.
Nowhere is that more evident than in Randolph, New Jersey, where on Monday night, the Board of Education was confronted by an angry group of citizens who, armed with a petition containing 4,500 signatures, demanded board members and the superintendent of schools resign. No one did, but the board quickly overturned a vote from a previous meeting that enraged so many people.
After four hours of verbal head smacks from parents and taxpayers, the school board restored the holiday names it had excluded from the school calendar. It all began with an attempt to change Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples Day. Then board members decided to drop the names of national and religious holidays such as Memorial Day and Christmas, simply listing them on the school calendar as "days off."
Media reports say some parents showed up to Monday's meeting with signs touting the various holidays. One held a sign that read "All Holidays Matter." The board voted 8-1 to reverse its decision, restoring the holiday names to the calendar. A calendar review committee will be appointed to review any future proposals for changes.
Wokeness is an attempt by a few to impose their will on the many, and many have grown sick and tired of it. The folks of Randolph, New Jersey are to be applauded for their actions. It's time the silent majority rise up and be heard.
