Over 70,000 pounds of pepperoni pizza is being recalled by Whole Foods after the product was labeled improperly.

According to WCVB 5, “the pizzas were labeled as containing uncured beef pepperoni, however the pizza actually contains uncured pork pepperoni.” The Food Safety and Inspection Service stated that “the problem was discovered during a label review of Whole Foods and occurred as a result of a change in ingredient suppliers.”

The pizzas were produced between the dates of January 5, 2015 through January 22, 2016. They were shipped for sale in the following states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island.

So far, there have been no confirmed reports any harmful reactions to the products, but anyone concerned should contact a healthcare provider.

Customers who have a Whole Foods pepperoni pizza 8” or 12” item are asked to either throw away the pizza or return it to the place of purchase.
