Happy Wet Nose Wednesday! It's the best day of the week.

There are so many animals on the SouthCoast waiting for a place to call home. Thanks to our shelters, these animals have a fighting chance.

We shine a light on one of these animals every week, and this week, we head to Fall River where a dog is in dire need of a big hug and a loving family.

Meet Rocco. Rocco is an eight-year-old lab mix at Forever Paws Animal Shelter, and this sweet boy has had a rough start at the shelter. His owner passed away, leaving this senior dog heartbroken and confused.

"Rocco has lost his dad, his home, and everything he's ever known in an awfully short span of time, so it's understandable why he's been so hesitant and unsure," said the shelter.

Slowly but surely, Rocco is warming up to everyone at the shelter. He does well with other dogs and seems to light up when he's around them, but what he really wants is a place where he feels safe.

"Rocco is going to need someone who has the time and patience to build trust between them and to help them build that confidence back up," said the shelter.

He loves butt scratches, squeaky toys, naps, and sunshine. Once you show him unconditional love, he'll be your best friend forever.
