Happy Wet Nose Wednesday! Let's talk animals.

There are hundreds of animals in local shelters that are dreaming of finding a forever home. Every week, we give one of those animals the spotlight in hopes of uniting them with a loving family.

This week, we head to New Bedford where a shy pup hopes to steal your heart.

Meet Peppermint. Peppermint is a one-year-old, 42-pound mixed breed currently residing at Lighthouse Animal Shelter in New Bedford. She is a bit of a wallflower, but when she gets to know you, watch how fast that tail can wag.

"Peppermint is the ultimate cuddle bug," said the shelter. "Once she knows you are her friend, she is all about the snuggles and tail wags."

Her leash skills are still a work in progress, but her confidence is improving every day. She needs a family to encourage her and show her that walks are fun.

Peppermint loves to make new dog friends and always has fun during the play sessions at the shelter.

"If you are looking for a loving companion with a gentle spirit and a knack for cuddles, Peppermint is your girl," said the shelter.

The shelter shared that she has experience with other dogs and children but does not recommend cats in her forever home.
