Westport’s First National Night Out Draws Huge Crowd [PHOTOS]
Perfect weather, packed crowds and plenty of smiles marked a night to remember at the old Westport High School stomping grounds.
What began as a new tradition turned into a full-blown community celebration Tuesday evening as the Westport Police Department hosted its first-ever National Night Out and by all accounts, it was quite successful.
With blue skies and summer sunshine, the event welcomed hundreds of residents, families, and local businesses for an unforgettable evening of fun and reunion.
A Night That Took Off — Literally
The celebration began with a dramatic helicopter flyover by the Massachusetts State Police that brought pure joy to the kids in attendance. The action continued on the old soccer grounds with multiple K-9 demonstrations, showcasing the skills and dedication of these four-legged officers and their handlers.
Food, Fun and Freebies
A lineup of local food favorites kept the good vibes (and full bellies) flowing, thanks to:
- Fancheezical
- Sorbae
- Cup of Jo Jo's Coffee
- Mad Good Cookie

Meanwhile, Dartmouth Stop & Shop sponsored snacks, popcorn, cotton candy and free raffles that brought big smiles to kids and parents alike. As a special touch, the Westport Police Department donated two children’s bicycles, awarded to two lucky young winners before the night was through.

A True Community Effort
It wasn’t just about fun, it was about togetherness and getting to know the people who keep the town safe. Local businesses showed their support, town departments showed up in force, and families gathered. From the fire department to conservation teams and town organizations, the night proved what makes Westport special: a community that shows up for each other.
