Rider of Stolen Motorcycle Killed in Westport Crash

WESTPORT - A crash between a truck and stolen motorcycle in Westport Saturday morning has left the rider dead.  

Westport Police have identified the motorcyclist as Paul "PJ" LaFrance, 28.

The motorcycle was traveling west on Route 177 around 9 a.m. when it collided with a truck.

Witnesses told police the rider was driving at "an excessive speed" when he lost control of the bike and crashed into a truck in the eastbound lane. He was unresponsive when paramedics arrived. LaFrance was taken to Charlton Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Westport police said the motorcycle had been stolen from Somerset on Friday.
