A New Bedford landmark closed its doors on Monday.

Phil and Celeste Paleologos have operated the Shawmut Diner for more than 30 years.  They recently announced the property had been sold to Cumberland Farms.  The diner itself, which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, will either be sold or put in storage.

Lloyd Perry has been coming to the diner for decades.  He's saddened by the closing....

Celeste Paleologos says business was tremendous this weekend, with people coming back for a final visit.

On Sunday night, the Paleologos family hosted a party for about 40 former and current employees.
