Crews are making repairs at the Sol-E-Mar Housing Complex in Dartmouth after a power outage this weekend.

The outage occurred around 7 p.m. Saturday when a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle struck a utility pole knocking out power to the complex and some nearby homes.

District One Fire Chief Jake Bettencourt says the driver of the car was injured and taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

Connie Desbiens, the Executive Director of the Dartmouth Housing Authority, says the Community Center, which has its own generator, never lost power and another generator was brought online early Sunday afternoon to provide power for the rest of the complex.

Nearby homes had power restored within two hours and Desbiens says an electrician hired by the Housing Authority is working with eversource to have power fully restored.
