WBSM TV: A Benefit Concert for Marcy

Barry welcomed some friends to talk about a very special fundraiser coming up to benefit a local family who lost their rock in a tragic car crash.

WBSM’s own Ken Pittman brought along his wife, Andrea, and their friend, Holly Mallowes. Holly recently lost her lifelong best friend Marcy in a fatal crash on Route 195 in Mattapoisett. Holly shared her memories of Marcy, and her and Andrea discussed the plans for the event.

The event will take place Saturday, May 26 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at The Vault at Greasy Luck Brewpub, located at 791 Purchase Street in New Bedford.

From the event release:

On April 17, Marcy Cushing, a 38-year-old devoted wife, mother of two and registered nurse died tragically when her vehicle went off the road and struck a tree, leaving behind her disabled husband and their two children.

Marcy was an amazing person, so full of life, laughter and love... Her smile lit up a room, her laugh was contagious and she brought happiness to everyone around her. She meant the world to so many people, especially her children and husband. Eleven years ago, her husband Ricky was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. Marcy gave all her love and strength to take care of him and their two beautiful kids. She was their main source of income, transportation - their everything! Her family is left with so much heartache and financial uncertainty.

Marcy’s family and friends have rallied together to organize a benefit concert in hopes to raise enough funds to lessen the financial burden of everyday expenses as they adjust to their new life without her.
