Wareham Police: Drunk Driver Hits Boulders, Flips Car Three Times
ONSET - Two people are hospitalized following a crash on Cranberry Highway.
Wareham Police, Onset Fire, and Wareham EMS responded to the single-car crash Thursday night on Cranberry Highway near Red Brook Road in Onset. Upon arrival, first responders found the vehicle on it's roof with two people trapped inside. Onset Fire personnel were able to remove both individuals. The victims were transported to Tobey Hospital with minor injuries.
As a result of an investigation, Wareham Police have determined that the car left an establishment in Bourne earlier Thursday night, and was traveling west into Wareham on Cranberry Highway at a high rate of speed. Police say the vehicle began sliding, striking boulders on the side of the road, and then flipping three times before coming to rest on the side of the road.
Police say multiple empty cans of beer were found inside the car, and the driver exhibited signs of intoxication. The driver, Brian Cluff, 34, of 12 Wapping Road, Kingston, is being summoned to court on charges of operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, and speeding.
