Voter Registration Up in Massachusetts
Voter registration in Massachusetts is up heading into next week's primary election. Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin says Massachusetts has 4,180,918 voters registered for the September 6th State Primary, an increase of about 113,000 from the last Presidential Primary four years ago.

Registration for the primary closed on August 17th, and the figures show a continuing trend of voters toward the unenrolled status with 52.6% of voters listed as independents. Democratic registration is at 35.56%, and Republican registration is just 11.29%. The State Primary Election includes nominations for President, State Senate, and locally, the new 9th Congressional District.
