Voter Deadline On Friday

Friday is the last day to register for the Sept. 8 primaries in Massachusetts.

Voters will be nominating candidates for offices such as Sheriff, State Representative, State Senate, and District Attorney.

Fpur official ballots will be available for all candidates seeking the nomination of the Democratic Party, Republican Party, Green Rainbow Party, and the United Independent Party.

However, Maria Tomasia, Chair of the Board of Election Commissioners for the City of New Bedford tells WBSM News that only one ballot can be selected.

"In the primary you are picking the party and the person that's going to represent that party," said Tomasia.

Tomasia says anyone who has moved recently or wishes to change party affiliation must do so by Friday but that her office will be open late to help anyone needing to make those changes.

"We will be here until 8 p.m. on Friday so that anyone who needs to make those changes will be able to come in, or give us a call until 8 p.m.," said Tomasia.
