Vice President Kamala Harris Expected on Martha’s Vineyard for Memorial Day Weekend
If your weekend plans consist of traveling to Martha's Vineyard, you might want to prepare yourself for high-traffic situations and random detours at any given moment.
According to The Martha's Vineyard Times, Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to pay the island a visit for Memorial Day weekend. Word is, her sister has a place in Edgartown.
As welcome as this news is, having the vice president right here in Massachusetts is unfortunate for anyone looking to tour the island the way they would under normal circumstances.
The Times confirmed a U.S Airforce C-17 Globemaster military transport aircraft, a monster of a plane, is scheduled to touch down Friday. Airforce.com gives the full details and specs of the Globemaster and they are awe-inspiring. Coming in at 174 feet long with a 169-foot wingspan, these giant aircraft cost a whopping $202 million back in 1998.
Secret Service, security, and police presence are expected to be in full force, just as they are whenever the Obama family visits the island. Someone as high-profile as the vice president will be surrounded at all times.
What Harris might be doing in the Vineyard is unknown at this time. Regardless of whether or not she's there for business or just vacationing with family and friends, prep yourself for a busy situation across the island.
Curiosity has already taken over and my thoughts are this:
Where will Harris dine once settled on the island? Michael and Maddie, Fun 107's morning show, will be live from Nobnocket Boutique Inn over in Vineyard Haven and we know a thing or two when it comes to delicious restaurants on MV.
So, if you're reading this, Vice President Harris, shoot us a message on the Fun 107 app. It's free to download. We'll be more than happy to send some recommendations your way.
Just be cautious, Madame Vice President, if you're thinking of jumping off Jaws Bridge, it's a lot scarier than you might think.
