Senator Bernie Sanders is throwing his hat in the ring for the Democratic presidential nomination. Sanders is a Vermont independent who caucuses with Democrats in the Senate.

In a Capitol event, the 73-year old Sanders said it is time to create an economy that works for all Americans. He criticized Supreme Court decisions on campaign financing and argued that billionaires are now able to "buy the political candidates of their choice."

The liberal Sanders insisted that he is in the race to win. He is expected to run to the left of Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton. Sanders suggested he won't attack Clinton personally but said it is fair to inquire about questionable donations to the Clinton Foundation. He also noted that he voted against the Iraq war. Clinton voted for the war.
