Update: Homicide Victim In North End Shooting Identified

A 20 year old New Bedford man is dead following a shooting Friday night in the City's North End.

Greg Miliote, a spokesman for the Bristol County District Attorney's Office says Police responded to a report of gunshots around 9:20pm in the vicinity of 125 Collette Street, and found two male victims outside.  The deceased victim was identified as 20-year old Donald Smith of New Bedford.  The second victim, a 25 year old man, was rushed to an area hospital, and is listed in critical condition.

Miliote described the investigation as extremely active, but no arrests have been made.  Authorities are asking the public for help in the case.  Anyone who may have been in that part of the city Friday night and has information is urged to contact Police at 508 991-6300, or calling the department's anonymous tip line at 508 961-4584
