UMass President Visits Downtown, Marine Commerce Terminal Site

University of Massachusetts President Robert Caret's bus tour makes a stop in New Bedford on Wednesday.

University officials joined Mayor Jon Mitchell for a walking tour of Downtown New Bedford. Then the entourage boarded a Fire Dept. boat to get an up close look at the Marine Commerce Terminal Project in New Bedford Harbor.

President Caret says among the goals of the bus tour is to visit important regional economic development projects....

The state is spending $100 million to construct the Marine Commerce Terminal. The project is expected to make New Bedford a staging area for offshore wind development.
