USNews.com stated "These institutions from the U.S. and more than 90 other countries have been ranked based on 13 indicators that measure their academic research performance and their global and regional reputations."
"The ninth annual U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings were produced to provide insight into how universities compare globally," USNews.com reported. The rankings also "provide insight into how U.S. universities – which U.S. News has been ranking for 40 years – stand globally."
Eleven Massachusetts schools made the list of the world's top 2,000 universities, including Harvard University, which topped the list, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which finished in second place overall.
Other Massachusetts schools to finish in the top 2,000 include Boston University at No. 70, UMass Amherst at No. 160, Northeast University at No. 184, UMass Medical School at No. 441, UMass Boston at No. 487, Boston College at No. 618, UMass Dartmouth at No. 1,046, UMass Lowell at No. 1136, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute at No. 1,271.
Not for nothing, but 1,046th place is not a bad place to be on a list of the top 2,000 of anything.
Here is a list of all the best U.S. universities.
