
U.S.A Advances To Knockout Round
The U.S. is moving on to the knockout stage of the World Cup despite a 1-nil loss to Germany in its final match of group play. The Americans finished second in Group G and advance on goal differential following Portugal's 2-1 win over Ghana.
Germany won Group G with seven points, while the U.S. and Portugal each had four points.
Team USA finished with a goal differential of zero in its three round-robin matches, while Portugal finished at minus-three.
Team USA is set to play Belgium in the knockout stage of the World Cup. The match will be played Tuesday at 4 p.m. Eastern from Salvador, Brazil. (Metro Network Inc.)
