Two people are facing drug charges following a Thursday morning traffic stop in Freetown.

Lt. Steven Abbott says an officer noticed an expired inspection sticker and, after conducting a computer search, learned the vehicle's owner was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant.

The vehicle was stopped on on Braley Rd. around 11:19 a.m. where it was discovered that the driver, 36-year-old Michael Santos of New Bedford, was operating on a suspended license and the vehicle's owner, 25-year-old Rebecca Santos of Dartmouth, didn't have a valid license.

Both suspects were placed under arrest and a search of the vehicle uncovered a plastic bag with approximately 33 grams of a white powder identified a fentanyl, syringes, digital scales, and plastic bags.

Officers also seized $924 from Santos during a booking inventory.

Abbott says the suspects were scheduled to be arraigned on drug trafficking charges at the Fall River Justice Center.
