Two Busted in New Bedford Drug Raid

A New Bedford couple was arrested overnight following a drug raid in their Jouvette Street apartment.

Omar Colon and Wanda Vargas were taken into custody after a traffic stop as members of the New Bedford Police Department's Narcotics unit executed a search warrant at 14 Jouvette Street.

Police found a large quantity of heroin and cocaine as well as an electric stun gun, packaging material and over 10 thousand dollars in cash.

Police also discovered Ms. Vargas's 14 year old daughter asleep in the apartment. DCF was notified and the teen was sent to stay with a relative overnight.

Police also found a fake Pennsylvania license that Colon had in the apartment.

Both individuals faced numerous drug charges in district court.
