Tucker Carlson, host of the now-defunct Tucker Carlson Tonight program on Fox News, has extensive ties to New England.

Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson was born in San Francisco, California, on May 16, 1969 to Lisa McNear, an artist, and Dick Carlson, a journalist who became director of Voice of America, President of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and the U.S. ambassador to Seychelles, among other endeavors.

Tucker's younger brother, Buckley Swanson Peck Carson, was a Republican operative.

Tucker's father was raised at the historic Home for Little Wanderer's orphanage in Boston and fostered by Carl and Florence Moberger of Malden, Massachusetts. He was adopted at age two by a couple named Carlson of Norwood, Massachusetts.

Tucker Carlson's parents divorced in 1976. His father purchased properties in Vermont and Maine.

Tucker attended a private boarding school in Switzerland before being "kicked out." He moved to Middletown, Rhode Island, where he received his secondary education at the private St. George's School.

It was there Tucker met and began dating his future wife, Susan Andrews, whose father was the school's headmaster. Carlson and Andrews married in 1991 and have four children.

Upon graduating from St. George's School, Tucker attended Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, graduating in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History.

Tucker Carlson began his journalism career as a fact checker for Policy Review and as a columnist for various publications before landing on-air gigs with CNN, PBS, MSNBC and Fox News.

Carlson and Fox News "mutually agreed to part ways" on April 24, 2023.
