Background of the Case

The charges date back to August of 2023, when the 14-year-old victim was a resident of a group home in Fall River. She ran away from the group home and attempted to hitchhike to see her biological mother in Brockton. Hector pulled over and agreed to give her a ride. She told Hector she was 18 years old, and he instead drove her to the Riverview Inn & Suites in Somerset, where he rented a room and the two spent the night together.

The Assault and Evidence

While in the room, Hector gave her approximately five drinks that she believed were alcohol mixed with orange juice. She reported feeling drunk and that she “could not move, could not see straight, and kept falling asleep,” according to the D.A.s Office. She reported that she and Hector had sex numerous times throughout the evening.

The next morning, she awoke and Hector was not in the room. She called a friend looking for a ride, and that friend advised her to call the police.

Police Investigation and Arrest

The police arrived and met her in the parking lot. While she was speaking with the officers, Hector walked out of the hotel and admitted to the officers that he had spent the night with the victim.

“Once at the police station, the defendant stated to the detective that in the eyes of the law, he had done something wrong,” the D.A.’s Office said. “His phone was searched, once a warrant was obtained, there were three photos of the victim, unconscious on the bed with her breasts exposed.”

Detectives found used condoms, condom wrappers, and an empty bottle of “male performance liquid” in Hector’s hotel room, the D.A.’s Office said. The victim was taken to the hospital where DNA was collected via a rape kit. The DNA was a positive match to Hector.

D.A. Quinn's Statement

"The defendant plied the victim with alcohol and then sexually assaulted her,” Quinn said. “I am pleased that the defendant pled guilty and accepted responsibility without the victim having to testify.”
