Contract talks between Southcoast Health and the union representing workers at Tobey Hospital in Wareham remain at a stalemate.

Local 1199 S-E-I-U says they're looking for a fair contract, while Southcoast is offering only wage freezes and reductions in benefits.

Local 1199 spokesman Jeff Hall says Southcoast has seen solid profits over the last year, and its time for executives to do the right thing.

"Its really imprtant for this hospital to invest in creating good jobs in the community, and we hope that they will take up our request for arbitration so there can be a reasonable resolution to these negotiations," said Hall.

The union is also starting an advertising blitz, with radio ads asking Southcoast Health System to rescind proposals for wage freezes and decreased benefits.

Southcoast spokesman Peter Cohenno says representatives of Southcoast are still hopeful of reaching an agreement without going to arbitration.
