Rhode Island Mom Turns Blizzard Snow Into Giant Yeti
Is that a yeti?! Snow way!
For Tiverton resident Miranda Carpenter, the Blizzard of '26 was the perfect time to get creative.
"Stacking the snow took the longest. I started with a snow bank along my driveway, over 10 hours to clear the driveway," Carpenter said. "On day three, I decided to do something fun with the giant mound of snow accumulated."

The result? An eight-foot yeti made of snow.

"My kids have always been into cryptids (popular creatures or animals from folklore)," Carpenter said. "When they were little, they would go out on the back porch with night vision goggles to look for Bigfoot. I started painting a couple of years ago and classic monsters and cryptids are my main subject matter."

This time, she traded her paintbrushes in for shovels to create this snowy sculpture.

"This is my first large sculpture and first snow creation other than a regular snowman. I make novelty cakes, and have made edible sculptures. Snow is a much more forgiving medium to work with," Carpenter said.
A little ingenuity and a few household items are all it took to create the snowy Sasquatch. She started with a shovel to pack the snow that she was clearing from her driveway.
"I used a kitchen fork and snow brush to create the hairy look and blueberries for the eyes," Carpenter said.
"Once the head was set, I carved the body out of the snow bank. This took about an hour," she said.

Her creation has caught the attention of many on social media.
Social Media Reacts to the Snow Sasquatch
"It is a vulnerable thing to put something you have made onto social media. You never really know how people will react, if at all," Carpenter said.
Lucky for her, the response has been nothing but positive.
"It was a surprise to have so many people respond so positively to my art. Lots of people have asked to share the pictures and are being so kind and supportive," she said.
