A Lakeville business has said goodbye to a beloved friend.

Meet Mt. Kila-my-beero

Allow me to introduce you to Mt. Kila-my-beero, a large snowbank that formed outside of Red Hand Brewing in Lakeville after the Blizzard of 2026.

"We have only been open for 18 months, so this was our first snowstorm," Brian Donnelly recalled. "We are a family-owned business, my mom, my brother and I. Our family has always believed in giving back and service to the community."

Which brings us back to Mt. Kila-my-beero. Apparently we're not the only ones who like to name snowbanks. Remember Marvin the Mountain?

While some saw snow, the Donnellys saw potential.

Turning Lakeville Snow Into Something Meaningful

A contest was born. Customers could place bets on when the snowbank would melt, with all proceeds benefitting Fisher House Boston.

"The Fisher House is a great cause. I have a lot of friends and family who are military and this is our way of not only helping them but helping their families," Donnelly said.

Supporting Fisher House Boston

"The idea came from a conversation with a good friend about the ice melting on Lake Winnipesauke and a similar event they do every year, so we decided to make something fun out of a bad situation," he said.

A Brewery Built on Giving Back

Giving back is something Red Hand Brewery enjoys doing in all weather. "Since we opened we have found ways to give to worthy charities," Donnelly said.

Toys for Tots, Lakeville Animal Shelter, Matthew's Food Pantry and the Lakeville Fire Department are just a few of the organizations that have benefitted from the generosity.

The mountain finally disappeared Sunday, March 29, 2026 around 8:30 p.m., one month and three days after the first flakes fell.
