Three local legislators are among a group of 24 legislators from across the state gearing up for a three-day trip to theAzores in a trade delegation that will include meetings with top officials and efforts to restore a 19th-century jewish synagogue in Ponta Delgada. Rep. Antonio Cabral, who was born in Portugal and who chairs the House Portuguese-American caucus, said in a press release that he is looking forward to strengthening the ties between the Portuguese- American community in the state and the region of the Azores. Also on the trip are State Senator Marc Pacheco of Taunton, the Senate chairman of the Portuguese American caucus and Senator Michael Roderiques of Westport.
