The Democrat Party’s national convention is yet to come, but former Vice President Joe Biden will be the presidential nominee of his party. He still has land mines to dodge.

The first danger to Biden is the base of his party. The party that elected Joe Biden in the early 1970s has become more left-wing and radical. Biden has to be concerned that his convention will be disrupted by the violence and racial strife. At one point in his career, Biden the Senator was an opponent of school integration by court order and he worked with segregationist Democrats for decades. He is vulnerable to being attacked by Black Lives Matter radicals and having his convention look like the Democrat Convention that turned into a riot in 1968.

The second land mine awaiting Biden is who he chooses as his running mate. The Biden campaign might have errored when they promised that Biden wouldn’t pick a man to be on the ticket with him. By ruling out all men, Biden ruled out qualified Black men such as former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and former Attorney General Eric Holder. If this was 2008, Biden’s decision would have eliminated then-U.S. Senator Barack Obama from consideration as vice president. Whoever Biden’s campaign decides to partner with, they will disappoint the supporters of all but one woman.

The extended Biden family’s financial and business dealings are all going to be examined. There are serious questions about Hunter Biden. The questions are so serious it led to the Democrats in the House using the issue to impeach President Donald J. Trump. Hunter isn’t the only member of Biden, Inc. that is a land mine.

But the biggest potential problem for the Democrats and Joe Biden is his ability to perform on the debate stage. Will he be able to hold up under the hot lights and the hotter verbal attacks of President Trump on the world stage?
