The Orpheum building sits on South Water Street and is 107 years old. The structure was built in 1912, and during its heyday, contained a theater and several retail shops. But with urban renewal in the 1960s, the building lost in prominence in the city and has been mostly vacant for decades. The Orpheum building is now privately owned and up for sale. This week on Townsquare Sunday, host Jim Phillips speaks with Charles Hauck and Ricardo Santos of an organization called Orph Inc. They're interested in bringing the historic building back to life and looking for others to join them. Charles and Ricardo share the history of the Orpheum building and what they would like to see happen with that structure.

Townsquare Sunday with Jim Phillips can be heard each Sunday at 6 a.m. on WBSM 1420 and WBSM.com. Townsquare Sunday is a weekly public affairs program highlighting non-profits and community organizations in the Greater New Bedford area.
