For decades, the Democratic Party lurched to the left while they stayed moored to the legacy of President John F. Kennedy and the rest of the Kennedy clan. That mooring has broken.

The Democratic Party is now the party of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez instead of JFK. The Kennedy family was the capitalist wing of the Democrats while AOC and Bernie Sanders are the socialist wing of the Democrats. The rejection of Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy III by the Massachusetts Democrats in favor of AOC-sponsored Sen. Edward Markey is the end of the Kennedy legacy that has propelled Democrats for decades.

Markey and his campaign literally mocked the assassinated president during the campaign and the Democrats of Massachusetts rewarded him for it with their votes. Before being murdered, President Kennedy told our nation, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”

Every living American can identify that statement. But the AOC wing of the Democrats saw an opening and they used it. Markey campaigned instead on a platform of “ask what your country can do for you” and he won over the modern Democrats. Mocking an assassinated American president is now a winning formula for the left-wing Democrats.

The Massachusetts Democrats didn’t just re-elect Sen. Markey, they rejected the legacy of President John F. Kennedy when they voted for socialism and a candidate who mocked a war hero.
