Ten Arrested in New Bedford Cocaine Bust
NEW BEDFORD - New Bedford Police narcotics unit arrested ten people Tuesday following an investigation into cocaine distribution out of 358 North Front St. Apt. 1N.
Police executed a search warrant at that location and seized 44.8 grams of cocaine, packaging materials, digital scales and $962 in cash.
Those arrested were:
- Hiram Cordero, 33, 66 Newcomb St., New Bedford, trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws.
- Ronald Anthony Tavares, 49, 358 N. Front St. Apt. 1N, New Bedford, trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, warrant arrest.
- Michael Ernest Dumas, 35, 129 Princeton St., New Bedford, trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws.
- John Michael Biel, 57, 358 N. Front St. Apt. 1N, New Bedford, trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws.
- Nathan Houston, 31, 540 N. Front St. Apt. 1N, New Bedford, trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, warrant arrest.
- Mark Salazar, 52, homeless, trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, warrant arrest.
- Felix Martinez, 26, 154 Eugenia St., Apt. 1W, New Bedford, trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws.
- Xavier Valentin-Soto, 29, 358 N. Front St. Apt. 1N. New Bedford, trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, subsequent offense. He was convicted May 23, 2007 on the same charge.
- Nelson Dejesus-Hernandez, 39, 850 Pleasant St. Apt. 2, trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws.
A 17-year male was also charged with trafficking in cocaine and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
The incident took place at about 9 p.m.
