Teen Dead, Another Man Hospitalized in New Bedford Shooting
NEW BEDFORD — Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday evening in the city’s North End that left one dead and another hospitalized in serious condition.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, New Bedford Police responded shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of Tallman Street and Ashley Boulevard for reports of an apparent shooting involving two victims.
Police and paramedics arrived to find that both a 17-year-old New Bedford man and a 20-year-old New Bedford man had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. The 17-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the 20-year-old was rushed to the hospital. In a release, the District Attorney’s Office said the surviving victim is currently in serious condition at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, along with New Bedford Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating the homicide. The victim is not being publicly identified at this time,
